Yesterday I planned and worked on my drawing and some other stuff. Pretty good. Today I need to do more on the drawings and do something about awards.
Worked on BF, SB checkin, MC various stuff
Whew did the form.
And printed some stuff out. What did I do before that? Wasn’t I doing something important? Oh the drawing, which I printed. Maybe I should do my timesheet but meh might as well see if I do anything tomorrow.
Ok I started at 9:15 as planned, pretty much. I have gone through my emails and helped D. Now I’m getting jittery hungry, so I’ll have lunch. And then I’ll see what meetings I have. I also prioritized my to do list more or less. Put a date on the memo review.
This has not been my most productive week. Or maybe it’s fine and I just don’t feel productive.
What if I try to apply Dana’s concepts to my work? I think other people’s productivity tips don’t necessarily work for my personality. I think I’m not as bad as Dana when it comes to my home, but I kind of am that bad with my work. Well, my home was bothering me until I started listening to her. So let’s see.
Daily habits. She says dishes so it doesn’t pile up (timesheet is similar). Sweeping the kitchen floor (this one isn’t an issue for me, maybe like my emails). 5-minute pickup (making a to do list at the beginning of each day?)
Visibility rule – do the obvious stuff first?
Just doing it, don’t make decisions. I think I need to identify what “it” is. And my job is a thinking job so that’s harder. MC on Tuesdays will help it not pile up. Breaking down my big jobs into smaller tasks. Maybe I plan on Friday afternoons instead of Monday mornings. That way I could launch into whatever task I identified for Monday morning without it being this big annoying thing. But currently the task is to plan. Why don’t I just do it? Maybe that task doesn’t come with a sense of accomplishment.
What about doing one thing at a time so I never make myself worse off than before I started and I can stop what I’m doing whenever? Maybe breaking things down into smaller more granular tasks would help with this. I don’t start tasks because it seems overwhelming.
So I get motivated on Friday afternoon, huh. It’s because I listened to that podcast. Ok podcast back on so I can move these lines around.
I can manage this even if it’s never perfect.
Doing a small thing is better than nothing.
If I’m left to my natural tendencies, I won’t do anything productive.
Take 5 minutes to make a sloppy copy. Just get into it.
Implement all habits by solving the problem today and then solving it tomorrow. Make a to do list every day and then inventory what I did at the end of the day? I think the end of the day part is unlikely to work. Make a to do list at the beginning of every day is doable.
Rough start but that’s ok. I’m going to finish the MC CCR edits so I’m prepped to meet with S on Friday and be done with this. Then what? There’s the MC OM. Oh and BF! Oh maybe call R. Called him without even hesitating.
Hey text is done. On to the figures – no, lunch.
Now figures.
Communication matters. The other change was communicated really poorly I thought. This change was personal.
Ok sort of failed to focus there.
Tomorrow.
Still don’t feel put together and organized for the week, but it’s better.
Ooh new project with budget. Now I’m good for a long time. Should add that to spreadsheet.
I know I have several easy things to do. Finish that one plan and call G about the other. And then figure out drums.
I dealt with MC CCR, MC other stuff (controller call with JL and also JH in the field)
Kickoff call for BF
Checkin with M
And then finished MC plan, called G about MC CCR, dealt with drums.
